I look around this school and see reminders of Noelle everywhere.
The lot where she parked her car, the football stadium where she cheered on the Cardinals, the patch of cement she and Z laid on to take selfies.
These doors, she touched with her hands, these classrooms she made her presence known. She wasn't a star athlete, she wasn't the most popular girl in school. I'm sure she gave her teachers more grief than they deserved...she was never afraid to speak her mind or question authority.
She was sarcastic, sometimes moody, and honestly more than ready to graduate high school so she could "start her life".
But somehow she worked her way into your hearts. That is evident in all that the Verdigris School system has done to memorialize my daughter...the tree, the bench, the vigils held after her death.
So I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who made this happen. Thank you for caring enough about Noelle to help me keep her memory alive.
